The Production Process of Filter Plate

The filter plate is the core component of the filter press, so maybe you have some questions about it. Today I will give you a brief introduction about the production process of the filter plate:
1.Hot melt
The raw materials of the filter plateinclude PP particle, calcium powder, or elastomer will be put into the hot melt machine in a certain proportion, this is the first step.
2.Forming
We put the hot-melted PP material into the mould of the press machine to make the filter plate form once by using its huge pressure. It takes about 2 hours to produce one plate and this is mainly for the production of the chamber plate. For the membrane plate we will use the injection moulding machine. The raw material will be hot melted and pressed to form the plate together. The larger pressure of the injection moulding machine will produce higher quality plate.
3.Refinement
The filter plate produced in the second step will be sent to our filter plate workshop for processing. The milling machine will make the surface of the plate more smooth; the drill used to open the inlet and outlet holes; the worker drilled the little water holes according to the filtration process. After all the processes are completed, the worker uses the flame to repair the final burr.
4.Finished product
After the third step, the filter plate is completed finished. According to the different models and the size, we will install the different handles on the filter plate. For the CGR plates, we will install the seals and filter cloth before delivery to reduce the customer's operation.

FILTER CLOTH INSTALLATION

The performance of your filter press relies on the performing of the filter cloths. Filter cloth installation is typically easier when it comes to non-gasketed filter cloths, but it’s still important to install it in the right way. If the filter cloth isn’t installed properly, it will cause the damage and the leakage. It will affect the result of the filtration, even cause some damage to the filter plate.
The following are a list of tools needed, and the step-by-step instructions to help you install a new common chamber filter cloth in the filter press machine.
Tools Prepared
1) Rubber Cloth Dog Washers
*Some filter plates use cotter pins instead of rubber grommets
2) Zip ties
3) Clippers (Used to snip excess zip tie)
4) Non-gasketed filter cloths(Common chamber PP filter cloth)
Important tips:
1.Filter plates must be power washed and clean
2.It is easier and faster to install filter cloths with two people.
3.If the filter press is sitting on the ground, you can install the cloths while the plates are still in the press (as shown). It is not recommended to install cloths with the filter plates in the frame if the press is over an opening for cake discharge.
1) With the filter cloth on a flat surface, fold one side in half matching up the edges
2) Roll the folded cloth up to the center feed hole and fold in half again
3) Push rolled cloth through the center feed hole
4) Flatten cloth to plate and turn it so the top of the cloth aligns with the top of the plate
5) A second person should be receiving the rolled cloth and following step 4 on the opposite side of the plate
Top of plate
6) One cloth at a time, lay the top edge of the cloth over the plate, aligning the grommets onto the cloth dogs; every grommet should be over a cloth dog
7) Secure cloth dog with a rubber washer (or cotter pin)
Side of plate
8) Starting on one side, snugly secure grommets on the side of the plate with zip ties, removing the excess zip tie with clippers.
*While you are doing this, be sure you’re checking that the cloth lays flat, flush against the plate handle. Every set of grommets should be secured.

CHOOSING A FILTER MEDIA FOR PRESSURE FILTRATION
The choice of media is critical to the performance of the filtration equipment. Filter cloth is the key foundation to excellent filter press operations! Improvements in particle retention (capture efficiency) may be achieved by utilizing filter cloth that has been expressly designed with consideration for both the yarn type (e.g. monofilament, multifilament, textured, spun) and the physical construction of the cloth (e.g. weave, weight, etc.)
Solids
Solids are the physical state of matter in which samples maintain their shape and size. Some highly viscous liquids, such as cold molasses, flow so slowly that they seem to retain their size and shape and thus appear to be solids. Solids exhibit a regular arrangement of atomic, ionic, or molecular particles. Solid objects have a crystalline structure. In contrast, the molecules of liquids are arranged irregularly. Liquids have no crystalline structure.
Liquids
Substances in the liquid state of matter are intermediate between the gaseous and solid states. The molecules of liquids are not as tightly packed as those of solids or as loosely arranged as those of gases. The densities of liquids are usually lower than but close to the densities of the same substances in the solid state. In some substances such as water, the liquid state is denser.
Liquids are characterized by a resistance to flow, called viscosity. The viscosity of a liquid decreases with temperature and increases with pressure. Viscosity is also related to the complexity of the molecules constituting the fluid. For example, the viscosity is low in liquefied inert gases and high in heavy oils. A liquid can sometimes be heated above its usual boiling point. Liquids in that state are referred to as superheated. Similarly, liquids can also be cooled below their freezing point.
